Dear Families,
Have a wonderful summer break! We hope you have fun relaxing and spending time with family and friends. We are looking forward to a new school year, filled with fun and learning! When you have a chance, please check our updated supply list for the 2018/2019 school year located under the "Parent Information" tab. Have a great break and we will see you next school year! Mrs. Gergen Hello 4th Grade Parents,
As I’m sure you’ve noticed, our 4th grade teachers have been working diligently with your students to ensure they meet all 4th grade academic standards and are well prepared for continued success in 5th grade. With this said, we want to inform you that we will be making a change to the structure of 5th grade starting next school year, 2018-2019. Students will receive all of their core content instruction in the areas of: English/Language Arts, Writing, Math, Science, & Social Studies from just one homeroom teacher throughout the entire day just as they have in grades K-4. They will also continue to receive instruction in the special areas of: STEM, Music, Art, & PE with a built in Learning Lab. We have been very thoughtful about making this change and feel it will make a positive impact on our students academically as well as socially and emotionally. Students will be placed in 5th grade classes (3) over the summer. You will be informed of your child’s 5th grade placement during our July ILP Informational Sessions. In looking ahead to the 2019-2020 school year, Mrs. Nielsen will begin to work with students to begin preparing them for their transition from 5th to 6th next spring. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Mrs. Mendoza Wednesday, April 4th- AIMS Science (4th grade only)
Tuesday, April 10 - Writing Monday, April 16 - Reading (Day 1) Tuesday, April 17 - Reading (Day 2) Wednesday, April 18 - Math (Day 1) Thursday, April 19 - Math (Day 2) We can't wait for the students to show what they know! Many of our students have been doing such a wonderful job keeping track of their money, making good choices throughout the week, and then getting their weekly ledgers signed by a parent. HOWEVER, we still have quite a few students each week who do not bring back their ledger signed. In hopes to encourage them to remember, I began giving debits each day they did not have it signed. Unfortunately, that has not worked as well as I had hoped it would. With fifth grade becoming very close, it is imperative that I start really promoting responsibility and hold students accountable for their actions (or lack of). With this, comes our new expectations, effective April 2nd, for the rest of the school year.
From now on, students are not going to transfer their weekly earnings on Friday. Instead, students will not be able to transfer their money until Monday morning ONCE THEIR CHECK LEGDER HAS BEEN SIGNED. If the students do not bring it back signed, they will not receive their money from the previous week. Monday will be the only day to bring in the signed ledger for their earnings-if they bring it in on Tuesday, they will not be receiving their money. Of course, there will be exceptions for absent students-they must bring it in signed the day after they return. Another note: Many parents have been sending notes or emails saying their student forgot to either bring home the ledger, or forgot it at home. In the past I have accepted this as a signature, but moving forward, I will not. The students know that bringing it home and remembering to bring it back to school are apart of their responsibilities as well! I appreciate you all for supporting your students in becoming responsible little leaders! Please email with any questions or concerns. =) Our ASU Prep STEM Academy Carnival was a huge success! Thank you to all the families involved in making the evening so successful. I hope you all had a wonderful time.
The EADMS Reading Test will be held next Monday, February 26th. We are excited for the students to show what they know!
Dear ASU Prep Families,

The carnival will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018. The PTSO and teachers are working hard to help make this year’s carnival a success, and we need your help in collecting new items for these auction baskets.
