In order to make this possible, please send a small flashlight to school with your child on Friday, Dec. 22nd. You can purchase one from Dollar Tree (or other dollar stores) for only $1. Please label your child’s flashlight. A used flashlight is fine too, as long as it’s small. It would be too difficult for little hands to hold books and larger flashlights at the same time, so please make sure it’s small enough for your 3rd & 4th graders to use. I know the children will love this reading time!
On Friday, December 21st, we will be having a “Flashlight Read-a-Thon” in the morning. Some of you may remember reading in bed by flashlight when you were a child. We are going to practice “Flashlight Reading”. Flashlight Reading involves turning the lights off/closing the shades, finding a comfortable spot in the room, and reading. It’s simply another way to encourage and promote more reading!
