We will be celebrating Read Across America next week: February 29th-March 4th! We have lots of fun activities planned such as a door decorating contest, daily D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) time, and Reading Buddies with an older grade level.  We will also have a couple of fun days where students can wear something special.

Wednesday, March 2nd:  Dr. Seuss' birthday - Fun Socks Day
Friday, March 4th:  Cat in the Hat - Hat Day

It should be a really exciting and fun week!

*Yearbooks are on sale now.  All yearbook sales are online this year.  Please use the parent portal to make payments..  Orders must be received by March 4th.  Pre K - 4  $18 and 5th - 8th  $23

ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH, WE WILL BE HAVING A VALENTINE'S DAY CARD EXCHANGE. IF YOUR CHILD WISHES TO PASS OUT CARDS, PLEASE REMIND THEM TO BRING ENOUGH TO SHARE WITH THE ENTIRE CLASS.  A CLASS LIST WAS SENT HOME LAST WEEK.  THANK YOU!

Jump rope for heart

DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY, ASU PREPARATORY ACADEMY IS PROUD TO PARTNER WITH THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION THROUGH JUMP ROPE FOR HEART!  THIS COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT TEACHES OUR STUDENTS THE IMPORTANCE OF HEART HEALTH (EXERCISE, NUTRITION AND LIVING TOBACCO FREE) WHILE HAVING A GREAT TIME JUMPING ROPE.  ALL K-4TH GRADE STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION TO FUND RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO LOWER THE RISKS OF AMERICA’S #1 AND #5 KILLERS: HEART DISEASE AND STROKE.  
 
OUR LAUNCH DAY WILL BE FEBRUARY 1ST AND WE WILL FINISH COLLECTING FUNDS ON FEBRUARY 26TH.  PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR MORE INFORMATION TO BE SENT OUT IN THE FOLLOWING WEEKS.

Book Exchange

We are pleased to announce the ASU Prep Academy Book Exchange, a new way for your children to find a great book to read, to recycle books they've finished and to encourage reading for pleasure. The Book Exchange will take place during Academic Enrichment onFebruary 24th from 5:00-6:30pm.

Donated books should be in gently used condition (no missing pages or scribbles) and appropriate for children ages 5 to 13. They can be picture books, chapter books, fiction or non-fiction, books children may read on their own, or books to be read aloud by an adult. Encourage your child to pass along a book they love for another child to enjoy.
Classrooms will begin collecting books on Jan. 25th. You are welcome to donate more than one book! Our goal is to have every student leave the exchange with a book that is new-to-them. Any extra books will be donated to our amazing teachers' classroom libraries.
We look forward to supporting your child develop a life long love of reading!
