Friday is Pajama Day for the 3/4 cluster!
On Friday, December 22nd, we will be having a “Flashlight Read-a-Thon” in the morning. Some of you may remember reading in bed by flashlight when you were a child. J We are going to practice “Flashlight Reading”. Flashlight Reading involves turning the lights off/closing the shades, finding a comfortable spot in the room, and reading. It’s simply another way to encourage and promote more reading! In order to make this possible, please send a small flashlight to school with your child on Friday, Dec. 22nd. You can purchase one from Dollar Tree (or other dollar stores) for only $1. Please label your child’s flashlight. A used flashlight is fine too, as long as it’s small. It would be too difficult for little hands to hold books and larger flashlights at the same time, so please make sure it’s small enough for your 3rd & 4th graders to use. I know the children will love this reading time! Also, we will be watching the movie, Happy Feet. It is rated PG. If you choose to have your child not participate, please email your child’s teacher to let them know and they will have an alternative activity. If you would like your child to watch the movie, no response is necessary. Summative will be taking place on Thursday, December 14th from 5:00-6:30. Students are so excited to show you all of their hard work!
Please join us on Thursday, November 30th, from 5:30-7:30, for an evening at the Arizona Science Center to view ASU Prep STEM projects and explore the center for FREE! All ASU Prep students and families are invited.) All students who attend will receive a coupon for a free dress day. Free transportation will be provided from ASU Prep Poly STEM Academy to the Arizona Science Center. Please sign-up here to ride the bus from ASU Prep STEM Academy to the AZ Science Center. The bus will leave ASU Prep at 4:30 pm and depart from the AZ Science Center at 7:30 pm. (Students must be accompanied by their parent or guardian to ride the bus.)
Student Council is sponsoring Character Day on Tuesday. Students may dress as their favorite character - no masks, props, or weapons. Costumes must be school appropriate. On October 12th, our class will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month during their Spanish special! We are so lucky that a parent volunteered to bring in treats to share with our class! The treats will be store-bought, packaged goods. In the case you do not want your child participating, please contact me. If I do not hear from any parents, I will assume your child is allowed to join in on the celebration.
